A Short History
1883 Bayard Press launches its first publication in France, La Croix Newspaper.
1966 In the spirit of Maria Montessori, Bayard creates its first newspaper for children. At the time, creating a newspaper for children who could not yet read was a daring bet! But directly inspired by these new pedagogies and the soft and intimate relationship between child and parent, this magazine that we read with the little one our lap quickly meets extraordinary success.
1996 With 30 years of experience in creating impactful and engaging material for children, Bayard creates its first issues of StoryBox, AdventureBox and DiscoveryBox. At first, the concept of a subscription publication for children was new and foreign in the United Kingdom. It took persistence and passion to share with parents and educators the value of receiving a perfectly sized portion of learning in the mailbox on a regular basis. British children spontaneously took to the titles, and through them we built lasting relationships with families across the United Kingdom.
2016 The Box Magazines are 30 years old! Having grown alongside its readers, Bayard celebrates the first generation of parents to share their childhood experiences with their little ones.
2019 Bayard introduces a new member of the Box Magazines – AdventureBox MAX! For readers that want to stay in the realm of leisure fiction a little longer, AdventureBox MAX! enriches the Box Magazine reading journey with a little more action, drama, and suspense.
