CARL’S CURLER CRISIS

Something about the Story
Carl Gilbert is a hardworking hairdresser who aims to please his clients. One evening, however, Carl’s children and wife notice his eccentric behaviour and they begin to worry. What on Earth has gotten into him? And how long will it be before his clients complain about his outrageous new hairdos? Will this be the end of Carl’s career, or the start of the latest fashion trend?
To launch the new year in style, here is a hilarious adventure filled with spoofs of today’s celebrities and fashions. It also shows to what an extent, beauty is in the eye of the beholder…

Something about the Author-Illustrator
André Bouchard is a humorous cartoonist. His work is widely published in newspapers, magazines and books. He is also the author of Daddy Lost his Head, a picture-book illustrated by the great Quentin Blake. For AdventureBox, André has also created the fine illustrations for the story Owen’s magic compost (#132)

An interview with the Author-Illustrator

Why are there fashion trends?
So we can differentiate the ones who follow the trends and those who don’t!

Have you ever wanted to become fashion designer?
I’m an illustrator so I can create characters and the clothes they wear. An illustrator can also design shoes, furniture or even the universe!

When you work on a book, do you start with the text or with the illustrations?
You need to have an idea first. An idea can come to you when you draw or when you write, or when you read, or walk, etc.

Do you have moments of madness?
Of course! You can obviously see that just by reading my stories or looking at my drawings!
