One day Inspector Ratley, the infamous sleuth, hears a little girl’s call of distress: “You must help me, my bicycle has been stolen!” The fearless sleuth grabs his sophisticated detective equipment and follows Zoe to the scene of the crime. Their investigation leads the Inspector and the little girl from her house, to the street, to the neighbourhood café... then back home. There, Zoe’s parents announce that they have a surprise for her in the boot of the car. What could it be?
This interactive story invites children to look at the pictures for clues that will help Inspector Ratley with his investigation.
Something about the author
Fanny Joly began writing when she was a teenager. Her first project was a comedy sketch that she wrote with her sister, a stage performer. After studying Communication, she worked in advertising and television as a scriptwriter. Today, she has published more than 200 books, including picture books, young adult novels and graphic novels. Fanny has received many awards. She is especially proud of the 30 prizes given to her by children and young readers. Fanny’s books are brimming with humour and laughs. Fortunately for her readers, she never runs out of good ideas.
Something about the illustrator
Philip Waechter dreamed of becoming a footballer and an illustrator when he was a boy. He followed his father’s footsteps by becoming a creator of children’s books. After studying Communication and Design at the University of Meinz, in Germany, Philip began writing and illustrating for children. Recently, he set up the LABOR studio in Frankfurt, a place where writers and illustrators can work and exchange ideas. Philip’s books have been published in several languages; two titles published in English are Superstar! and Me!
